Greg Rode: ‘The Wall’—concluding zombie thriller series

Half the book’s royalties support the American Cancer Society.

A grisly array of the dead are finally a true army in front of us—we’re in a crapload of trouble, no matter how much damage the mines and minigun are going to do…

Warren Publishing author Greg Rode concludes his hair-raising zombie thriller series The Sanctuary Chronicles with the fifth book, The Wall. The novel finds winter creeping up on new and familiar characters in this electrifying finale to this series. As the crew flees from what promises to be another frigid season, they decide to split up—their first mistake.

To celebrate the finale of The Sanctuary Chronicles, Rode has committed to donating half of his royalties for all of his book sales for the second half of 2022 to the American Cancer Society. Rode was diagnosed with cancer while releasing his first book in the Sanctuary series and therefore understands how reading can provide a distraction for those going through treatment.

“I wanted to support other cancer patients and their families,” says Rode, “as well as honor my parents who both died from cancer. I hope this donation will help researchers find a cure.”

For the first time since Shotgun Finish, Rode’s cast of characters finally returns to the Carolinas—specifically, Hilton Head Island. Of course, their journey won’t be easy considering the zombies and the new enemies that threaten to derail their pilgrimage to safety. Rode unflinchingly thrusts his characters into a dangerous denouement that promises to change their world forever.

The zombies in The Wall are brought to life as, once again, Rode teams up with illustrator Merissa Jones to pair the narrative with fresh and edgy drawings, bringing readers inside the story.

“I think my style is a little different than other authors’, and having illustrations in novels isn't terribly common either, so it's a unique combination,” Rode says. The Wall wraps up the fifth and final part of a chilling zombie saga that is unlike any other.

When Rode began work on The Sanctuary Chronicles more than a decade ago, he chose to avoid other zombie content in any form in an effort to work solely from his imagination. Rode also drew inspiration from real world problems, leveraging global, political, and military unrest, leadership concepts and equality issues as some of the themes his stories and characters explore.

“I started writing this series in 2011,” Rode says. “And I’m both surprised and disappointed in a way that some of the issues that the characters raise in the story are still here in the real world and in some cases have gotten worse.”

Readers of Rode’s series know that nothing is as it seems in The Sanctuary Chronicles. Danger lurks around every corner, even idyllic settings like the beach. A vacation is just what these fierce characters need, but instead, they are rewarded with their most dangerous and cutthroat enemy to date.

“Readers who have come along for the whole ride have probably noticed that the size and scale of the conflicts in the books escalate with each novel,” Rode says. “That’s not by accident and definitely continues here.”

Prepare for the biggest battle against the undead yet!
