Marvel Comics has a long history of both monsters and superheroes, including a tradition of monsters that are superheroes. With that kind of history, it’s only natural that the ubiquitous Frankenstein’s Monster would join the Marvel universe.

Frankenstein’s history in comic books goes as far back as the 1940s. Mary Shelley’s patchwork monster has been repurposed by DC Comics, Dell Comics, Wildstorm Comics, plus two versions of Frankenstein by Dick Briefer from Prize Comics, Doc Frankenstein by Matrix creators the Wachowskis from Burlyman Entertainment, Frankenstein Mobster from Image Comics, and so many more.

The Frankenstein's Monster was introduced into the Marvel Comics world in the 1950s (in its pre-Marvel days), before receiving his own short-lived Marvel comic book series in the 1970s. The comic book series began with a faithful(ish) adaptation of Shelley's original novel, before bringing the Monster into the modern world of Marvel Comics.

He has since made numerous appearances, and teamed up with Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Howard the Duck, Man-Thing, and N'Kantu the Living Mummy, among others.

Over the years, he has been a member of the Howling Commandos, Legion of Monsters, Frightful Four, Murder Circus, Fearsome Four, and the Legion of the Unliving.
