Eat, Brains, Love (2019): Zombie comedy won Best Picture at the 2019 Screamfest Horror Film Festival
A laugh-out-loud funny, surprisingly romantic, zombie road trip movie filled with heart—and brains.
When we put together our list of the best zombie comedy movies, one of the early picks was the 2019 movie Eat, Brains, Love. An ordinary lunch hour explodes in an orgy of spurting blood and flying organs when stoner Jake Stephens and cheerleader Amanda Blake suddenly gut-munch half their class in the school cafeteria.
Afflicted with a zombie virus, they hit road in search of a cure while outrunning Cass, a telepath charged with hunting and killing the infected. Can Jake and Amanda find love while eating their way through the national sex offender registry?
Based on the 2013 book by Jeff Hart, Eat, Brains, Love was directed by Rodman Flender. The movie stars Jake Cannavale, Angelique Rivera, Sarah Yarkin, Jim Titus and Patrick Fabian.
REVIEW: “It probably won’t win over viewers who are truly sick to death of zombie movies, but Eat, Brains, Love at least tries to stand out from the countless other zombie films released over the last few years, with a sly satirical edge thrown in for good measure. And we have to commend it for that.” (Dread Central)
