Ep 04: Women’s Work and Paranormal Fiction: Author Dana Fredsti (Lilith Series)

The Lilith series by Dana Fredsti stars stuntwoman and struggling actress Lee Striga, who works with and deals with the monsters that secretly run Hollywood. Vampires, succubae, trolls, elementals, goblins—studios hire anyone and anything that can take direction, be discreet, and not eat the extras.

Lee Striga was introduced in the 2017 novel The Spawn of Lilith. To bring a level of credibility to the world of the series, the author calls upon her real-world experiences working in Hollywood: She has been a producer, director, and screenwriter. She is also trained in theatrical combat, as she demonstrated in the film Army of Darkness.

The latest book in the Lilith series is Blood Ink: Having killed her last producer, stuntwoman Lee Striga’s next film shoot takes her to the voodoo-soaked bayous and haunted back alleys of New Orleans, where sinister supernatural figures stalk the streets. In a dark corner of the French Quarter, an arcane tattoo artist is using his clients in rituals that will open an inter-dimensional gateway for a demon god from beyond the stars.

In this interview, Dana takes us behind the scenes, shares some of the real-life experiences behind her character’s day job, and reveals the abandoned original idea for her series.
